Far Beyond of crime and punishment.. The Torah is mostly a book of principles..

IMO, and on my try of be "exegeters".. The question: What is the frontier of our love or where we have "deposited" our passions? ..it is more applicable than should this a prohibition of something or should not..

The prohibition on human sacrifice sounds clear.. Not in some specific text.. But, because by principles God didn't gave us people. HE gave us things (resources).. and HE triest a prepared heart to return it..
