But that's the point. It isn't like gravity.
There is a beautiful passage in one of Graham Greene's last novels, "Monsignor Quixote". The old priest who is the main character says he had the most terrible dream the night before. He says in his dream Jesus came back to earth and proved beyond doubt that he was the son of God, the savior, the light. "I had nothing left to live for," the priest says.
