I can't combine the two because the second document may be one of two different letters depending on the mailing address of the recipient. I know it has something to do with overloading Word or something along those lines because I can insert INKEY()'s with about a one second delay between closing the first document and opening the second one and it will run a few hundred before it gives up the ghost. Any other ideas? I appreciate you taking the time to help.

>Then that may be your problem - you're doing 2400 print jobs, and the system can't keep up with you. Can you combine the 2 docs and do a mailmerge which provides a single printjob of 2400 pages? I've done MM with 750 pages with no problem except for the paper running out.
