It is possible that John R. has a need to massage hugh amounts of data. But the typical business app doesn't have to operate that way. So far he's the only one who's described a scenario where he might be better off sticking with VFP. But I just don't see it from anyone else here.

I'm not positioning myself as a universal spokesman or coming up with "everybody I speak to says x or y" rationalizations. I'm describing my own experience.

I'll say {again) that I perceived and acted on all the reasons you raise for abandoning VFP long before you did.

Why isn't it possible that I've also perceived a need for data spanning long before you?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
