>I think their story says a tremendous amount about the power of love. (And, of course, about the stupidity of the royal system, which didn't allow them to marry in the first place.) They went through a lot to ultimately be allowed to spend their lives together--obviously, it was about true feeling, not about who's the prettiest.
You're right of course. And the stupidity of the system that doesn't allow marriage to, say, a catholic, which all dates back to the problems with the 2 factions back from Elizabethan times. I don't think that a Catholic monarch nowadays would persecute the Protestants or whatever :-) But these archaic laws persist.
Mind you, back in the day when Chaz 1st met her she was quite easy on the eye.

>And, fwiw, Charles is no prize. If I were choosing on looks, he wouldn't be my choice. (But Diana did do her job--William is a gorgeous young man.)
But he
has inherited his father's balding pattern; Bill's getting quite thin on top. And Henry, who I think is a handsomer lad than his bro, has inherited
his father's hair too :-)
And what about William and succession? It's rumoured he'll marry his current girlfriend but, not being a gossip column watcher, I know little of her or if she's elligible to be queen, i.e. if William can marry her and be king (a la Edward & Mrs Simpson)
