What I've done in the past is create a splash screen in VB that uses the shell method to run my VFP app minimized. The small VB app loads quickly and is displayed while my VFP app is loading. The VFP app maximizes itself when it's ready to be shown. I used a timer to wait a predetermined amount of time, then exit (I'm sure there's a better way, but I'm not much of a VB programmer). Of course if you're creating a distribution, you'll need to make sure the VB runtimes are included.

If I wanted to have another exe just to run the splash screen I would do it in Delphi or something that has a small exe and needs no support files. The setup disks for fox are big enough :)
