Title:
Question about SQL Server access
Hello all,
I work at a college and until now I've been writing Visual Foxpro applications that access databases on a Novell server at my campus.
However, I would like to be able to give access to the data to employees at other campuses. The datalines between campuses are not robust enough to allow them to establish a Novell connection to my campus server so I would like to develop some kind of internet solution. But I'm somewhat confused about my options.
My question is...can I access an SQL 2005 server database over the internet by it's IP address using a Visual Foxpro 9 SP1 desktop application as the client? I don't want to have to get into writing HTML or Javascript or any of that if I can avoid it. I would much prefer to just set up an SQL Server in my office and allow all the campuses to access it over the internet.
Is this possible??
If this is a really stupid question, I offer a humble apology in advance :)
Thank you!
Stan Murphy
