I know that Cryptor can be used for VFP tables for encrypting fields, files, indexes, etc. But is there some sort of equivalent for encrypting the actual data as stored in SQL Server? So data is stored scrambled in the database, but normal during the reading and reporting to user for editing.

Don,
In SQL 2005 there is 4 different type of encryption functions (by password, symmetric, asymmetric, certificate). However since CLR is supported in SQL2005, and/or your application uses it as the language, they (SQL gurus) recommend using .Net for encryption rather than what MSSQL provides.
