All the VB 6 developers did the hole whine piss and moan routine and it got them NOTHING and there where a heck of a lot more of them then there are of us. I’m sure the truly hard core sycophants will go the hole rout but its not going to do any good. In the end most of us will be learning one or another flavor of .net (of course the true sycophants will have to use C# because they would never touch anything with the name VB ). The fact is most of us write windows apps and you can do it just as well in .Net as you can in Fox. And if you are working in a team of 2 or more people you may find that your doing it a little easier. I’ve used Foxpro since 2.5 strait through to some Foxpro 9 code I just finish up but I’ll tell you this VS 2005’s IDE has it whipped hands down. After working on one of my .Net projects jumping back into Foxpros IDE feels like trying to beat the code out with a rock. And PLEASE don’t respond with that tired line about not everyone can affore to maintain SQL Server. I’ve hooked .Net projects up to Access MDB’s ,Fox DBF’s and SQL Server and SQL Express they have all worked fine.
MS actually did everyone a favor by making the this official, now evern the hard core purest will pull there head out of the sand and have time to learn to use another tool or move on to other things.
