Rule #1: Never use a general field!!!
Rule #2: If you must use a general field, see rule #1
Rule #3: There are NO exceptions to these rules!

Store the images as separate files, and only store the file names in the table, with or without the path.

NB! Did I mention that you should never, never, NEVER use a general field?
