>Perhaps you missed the "In my opinion" part of my statement.

I might have not taken that into account. therefore my appologies.

>Generally speaking opinions are just that, i didn't make a blanket statement and I am not going to nose dive into a debate that has been going on for 20 years. As a rule I prefer to do as much number crunching as possible on the server. LINQ looks cool but ideally I want SQL Server / Oracle doing the heavy lifting.

And I don't disagree with that per se, though I like to offload the SQL server with much of the number crunching, unless there is a good reason to do it there (Depeding on the criteria). I'd like to have a responsive SQL server that is not too busy with other tasks that could have been done on a different layer. More importantly is the handling of meta data on the client (Object - authorisation, Real time data entry validations rules, user defined tasklists, default values etc.)

>I hate "chatter" sometimes. I goes from being a helpful board to a "my opnion is more relevant than yours" ego-fest. Do what works for you. The non-VFP tools I use manage to get the DML job done.

And that is fine.
