I've been using a Dell E1705 as my primary development machine since last summer. The only time I've noticed glare on the screen is when it is powered off. I use it in lots of different places with lots of different lighting conditions - no problem here. The native 1920 x 1200 display is really nice although fonts can be kinda small for my ancient eyes.
I've been running Vista Ultimate (32Bit) on it since it was released on MSDN in November - works fine (upgraded from XP by the way). Haven't had the guts to try 64Bit.
Just my $0.02.
