>Thanks for the info. I wonder if some of the wide screen laptops can keep the aspect ratio correct and just use part of the screen if switching down to 1024x768? Maybe I should go tinker with the display models at the store and see what happens.
Depends on what you mean under aspect ratio :). On my desktop, it's stretched. When I tried 1280*1024, it compressed it vertically to fit 900 pixels, and stretched horizontally to fit 1400. I wouldn't use that setting for any visual design, but may work well for a projection.
>I was drooling over a laptop with 17-inch screen last night. It looks like the extra screen real estate would be very useful for development. (My new consulting gig has a dual-monitor dev machine which is spoiling me big-time).
I keep my command window, document window, PEM and Data Session windows stacked and docked on the right side. Just about enough space to develop forms for 1024*768 and have all the tools visible. The next best thing after dual monitor... which I may actually try, got an unused 19" in the other room. I'm just enjoying the reclaimed desk space :).
