WOW!!!!!
Since VFP8 where CAs are introduced I NEVER ever used anything else.
I don't have ANY remote or Local views anymore everything is CAs. So powerful and easy to manipulate. Great builders (especially Mark's one) and so easy to switch Backend Databases.
Now we develop version that should run with NATIVE, SQL Server or any other Database as backend and all is in our CA base class logic. Great! Only thing is to read from somewhere WHAT Database you should use, nothing else.

Other benefit of the CAs is that they could use not only ODBC but ADO (OLEDB) Did you try to build a RV against VFP9 database (I know that this question is a little stupid, Why I should use RV against NATIVE database?)? But maybe there is some other Databases that have no current ODBC driver.

BTW You could ask Venelina to share her GREAT white paper for CAs :-)

The only thing normal about database guys is their tables.
