It's not just the N word. In highschools today teens of all races refer to each other using derogatory words. The N word and also Imus's phrase (while abhorrent to us) are common in schools today. When was the last time you visited a teen's MYSpace? Not to mention music. It is EVERYWHERE and not just between blacks. It is now between whites and blacks and hispanics and asians, et al. Somehow, they think it is ok and even what's in. I am surprised that none of that was mentioned in any of the media that I watched or heard. The only thing mentioned was rap music.

>Well, that's just it. Blacks can get away with using the N word but whites can't. And I don't know that it's really a double standard.
>
>From what I have read there is quite a bit of disagreement over whether the N word should be used even by blacks. I can't speak for how they react to it but to me it has no place in the modern world.

>>>I'm not an Imus fan....but for crying out loud, Al Sharpton has dropped the 'N' bomb several times in public, and Jesse Jackson referred to NYC as H****-town. Did Sharpton call for Jackson's head at the time?
>>>
>>>A 2 week suspension is appropriate and sufficient. I don't think Imus is a racist, I just think he's obnoxious in general.
>>>
>>>While I feel for the Rutgers players, this concept of a "meeting" to get something "accomplished" is a little silly. If they actually believe his comments "detract from their accomplishments", they're giving Imus too much credit to begin with.
