Google has been giving Microsoft something to think about as far as who the top software company is. (Which I think is a setup Microsoft enjoys as a way of keeping its own people churning at full speed -- IBM, Apple, Borland, and Netscape are among companies who have been cast in the same role). But are they in the software development tools arena at all? Maybe I'm even more out of touch with bleeding edge technologies than I thought.
