There are those rare occasions where folks running Win95/98/Me that just happen to have a "#" within the workstation name. Believe it or not, I've seen this happen *several* times -- which is the main reason why I've been using the API calls. And yes, on one of those occasions there was a space preceding and following the "#" character in the workstation name.

As for why I seem to keep running into old computer systems -- I work for a company who makes timeclock systems. Many companies tend to view payroll as a cost center that generates no profit (and thus are considered to be low priority) -- meaning that in-house payroll departments usually end up with the "hand-me-down" computers from other departments. It has been quite a while since we've been asked for a floppy diskette install (though I wouldn't be suprised if we were to get such a request).
