It's a military language school (DLI) in Monterey, CA. All day long nothing but speaking and learning a foreign language for months. The teachers never spoke English. Not once. Very intense but a great school. Each class has a team of teachers. Depending on the number of students for that language (military need), would determine the number of classes. In my case, my teachers were from Puerto Rico, Spain, Argentina, Chile, and El Salvador. Then other teachers from additional countries would rotate in and out to familiarize the students with colloqialisms. Very confusing at first, but after 6 months it was the norm. :o)

"J'ai étudié l'espagnol à l'Institut de Langue de Défense pendant que j'étais dans l'armée" is almost perfect too. You just inversed "Langue" and "Défense". BTW, is this a langage police like we have here in Quebec with the bill 101?
