I know little about the game, tho I've played pool several times in my life.
Your name gave this thread a face.

>No, in fact i don't even know where/if in my town there is a snooker hall. I used to play, back in the day, but I was never any better than the next Joe. I also used to play pool, but I can't abide the "winner-stays-on" mentality of most places, where the ne'er-do-well regular user gets free goes at other peop;le's expense. As I said, I like the TV world champ tournament and it just occured to me while watching that there was no US snooker connection.

"safe shot"... is that like a "laying up" in golf?

what enthralls me is hitting a tiny ball into a small hole (4.25 inches in diameter) some 450 yards away in four shots or less.

But I don't wnat this thread to become snookers vs. golf. They're two totally different game.
