Ann Coulter figured out how to make a lot of money, and went for it. I have no idea whether or not she believes everything she spews, or even if she cares, but it works.
The time was right for her. That whole Bush crowd with it's, "If you don't agree with everything I say and do, then you're anti-american" really set the stage for people willing to become fawning sycophants to prosper.
