FWIW, the VFP 3 beta group included a bunch of people who were experts in other Xbase technologies (Clipper, etc.). Maybe not preaching to the whole world, but a concerted effort to attract a group that had a natural inclination to the product.
Look, I'm not saying that Microsoft has done a good job of marketing VFP over the years. They haven't.
But I am tired of the claim that Microsoft bought FoxPro just to kill it. As I said, if that was their plan, they executed it exceptionally poorly.
