I have downloaded the Visual Studio C# Express edition from Microsoft web site. It installed fine, then I was given a download link to the MM .NET trial edition by Kevin, but when I tried to install it, it failed with an error message "object reference not set to an instance of an object". I tried it on two different machines with the same results.

After spending some more time on the Visual Studio site on MSDN, maybe the case is that Visual C# Express is not "Visual Studio", but just a standalone C# application. It has all of the .NET 2.0 objects in the toolbox, but something must still be different about it becuase MM .NET would not install on top of it.

I guess I need to download a 90-day trial of the full blown Visual Studio, and not just the C# Express that I got.

Can anybody comfirm this before I spend time trying it.

I'm just looking to get my feet with with VS2005 and MM .NET.
