Up-front money?!?!? Ha ha!! We don't get any up front money to write FoxPro books. We do it for the love of FoxPro, not for the money. If you take the number of hours we spend writing a book, total up our royalties over the years and do the math .. we end up making pennies on the dollar compared to our normal consulting rate. Seriously ... we make very little money on those books and we give up lots of billable hours to do it.

What Tamar was saying is that in a 7-month period, her royalties for *ALL* her books was less than $1000 for the entire 7 months. And considering how many books she has authored, you can see it breaks down to VERY little per book per month.

Hi, thanks....OK, I wasn't positive if she meant just for that 7 month period. If it's just for that period, that doesn't surprise me.

My personal perspective: I have my first book out and am working on #2. I love writing and presenting, and yes, I'm potentially giving up client possibilities, and making other personal sacrifices as well. But I want to make "something" on it. (And obviously, "something" means something different to each individual author). I asked for a few K up front and got it. I don't see the two as mutually exclusive (and I know you didn't say it that way).
