>FWIW, people's failure to spend money is a big reason why there are no new books for VFP. I just got royalty statements from Whil covering about 7 months, and my total income from all my books (those I wrote and those I tech-edited) in that period is under $1000. Hard to justify the time to write a book for those dollars.

>Hi, Tamar....when you say 'total income'....do you mean just royalties, or are you also including any up-front money? I'm stunned if you picked up less than 1K as the grand total for all of your books, especially since there were some good ones (the Office automation book, Hacker's guide, etc.)

Talking about royalties in a 7-month period (10/2006-4/2007). FWIW, writing for Hentzenwerke, there is _no_ up-front money (advance). All income is in the form of royalties, which are more generous than those from traditional publishers.
Given that two of the books in question (Taming SQL and the Best Practices book) are still fairly recent, it's pretty poor.
FWIW, total sales for What's New in Nine are under 1000 copies to date.
