Title:
Running Crystal Reports from VFP on Vista
I have been using Crystal Reports from VFP since 1999. I use the older report engine CRPE, which I know hasn't been supported in ages. I am currently using Crystal Reports 8.5. I use InstallShield Express v11 to distribute my application. When my app is installed on a Vista machine, it runs just fine as long as User Account Controls (UAC) are turned on. However the program cannot find Crystal Reports when UAC are turned off. I can manually unregister the CRPE32.DLL, move the Crystal files to a different directory and then register it again, which fixes the problem, but I don't want the user to have to do that. I am willing to switch to RDC and upgrade to CR v11.
I have two questions: Does Crystal Reports RDC run on Vista whether UAC are on or off? Will I have to change my reports to use RDC? Currently users view reports on the screen and can print or export them.
