The problem is that is has to be done from a unix server, which is of course not possible or is it? I was thinking about using fp 2.6 for unix doing this part of the job. Can this be done (append and index), if so are they compatible with fopxro 5?

I have some applications running in FP2.5 for Unix. Running on SCO Unix OS 5.0.7. There is no problem with the append from a text file or with the reindex. I also have apps running in fp 2.5 and 2.6 for DOS.

The only issue I have with using the files in VFP is that DOS and Unix do not set a 'Code Page' and VFP asks me to select a code page when I first access the file. This only is an issue the first time and fp 2.5 or 2.6 seems to keep the information in the dbf and not ask again. Im my case, I create the dbf programatically in the DOS and Unix program so I get the code page question each time since VFP has never opened that specific file. I just select the windows ansi option and go on with the program. Just another step, but not a stumbling block.
