>Seems a little oddball to me. After his arrest for parole violation for having guns, etc, they kept him on, but because of a speeding ticket at 3:00 in the morning they're dropping him? remember, he hasn't been convicted of DUI yet. Couldn't they wait a few days to see if he really was impaired? If so, then yes, drop him, but drop him for a speeding ticket? Hmmm....

As you may remember, I have been saying Tank's punishments have been an overreaction to his crimes, which have all been misdemeanors. And I think the Bears could have waited to see if there is a DUI charge. That said, this was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. The team has stuck with him through his various misadventures. About everyone involved with the Bears organization visited him when he was in jail. When he came out declaring himself a changed man, ready to stay on the straight and narrow, they took that in the most optimistic sense. Even commissioner Goodell, who has been going out of his way to be tough on the guys who have been giving the league's image a black eye, gave Tank a break. His 8 game suspension would have been reduced to 6 games if there was no further trouble.

Then what happens? Within a month Tank is back in trouble with the law. No, we don't know yet if he was DUI. No, going 40 in a 25 mph zone is not the crime of the century. But what is a guy in his circumstances doing out running around at 3:30 in the morning to begin with? There isn't much good going on at that hour. Tank just can't or won't stop acting like a knucklehead and the Bears had enough of it.

It was a steady drip-drip-drip of bonehead behavior that did him in. Here, anyway. Personally I wish him the best. I hope he finally hears that wake-up call and straightens himself out. He does have the football skills to play in the NFL.
