>My Father died of this a number of years ago -- he was originally diagnosed at 55 as well -- the surgery was aborted due to spread into rest of body. He underwent treatments and it went into remission for about 10 years. It came back in a fury and he went downhill fast. He had been checking every six months but it happened between the checks. So, my prayers are with you and hope you keep constant with the checkups.

Sorry to hear about your father.

My surgery was completed and the surgeon said he got it all. Two years later he tells me I needed to start other treatment because I wasn't cured. I dumped him right a way. I found a lot of help on the internet and have taken charge of my treatment with my new doctors concurrence.

I treat my prostate cancer like a lot of VFP gurus treat VFP. I'm not a fanatic but I have spent a lot of time studying the disease to insure I'm getting the proper checkups and treatment. So far, it's working.

If anyone has a family history of Prostate or Breast cancer, I highly recommend testing beginning at the age of 40. The earlier it's caught, the better chance of cure.
