Hi Cesar,

You are one of the main people of Foxite, aren't you? I'm an advocate of the idea that it must be possible to link to solutions on other vfp-forums. It's my impression that the UT advocates that idea also. However, the policy of Foxite is different, as you must be aware of. That fact has so far no influence on UT's policy, and I appreciate that a lot.

I chose the link you provided and noticed that you link to your weblog, rather than to the foxite-forum. I also noticed that you have written the blog especcially for Koen Piller. Several thoughts came to my mind:

1) If all solutions we provide are published on our private weblogs only, then the idea of central knowledge bases that can easilly be searched is killed.

2) It hampers discussion. For example in this case your solution has several major and minor drawbacks that need to be mentioned. That could be done on your weblog, but I'd prefer to place my comments here for reasons that are obvious to me.

3) Providing a link to another forum is, as I see it, a legitimate means of helping someone in case that same question has been answered there beforehand. However, that was not the case here.

What's your opinion about my three thoughts?
Groet,
Peter de Valença

If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
