>You are one of the main people of Foxite, aren't you? I'm an advocate of the idea that it must be possible to link to solutions on other vfp-forums. It's my impression that the UT advocates that idea also. However, the policy of Foxite is different, as you must be aware of. That fact has so far no influence on UT's policy, and I appreciate that a lot.

That's actually not entirely correct statement. If you try to google certain topics, you may get references to people's blogs, tek-tips, foxite and other forums' discussions, but never to UT threads. You can not search for a solution in UT outside UT.

So, I think that Cesar did a great job of posting his idea in his blog.
I also re-posted the link in the Russian forum for others to benefit.

BTW, here is a nice link Cesar shared with me http://www.tedroche.com/tedsriver/ which allows to read all VFP related blogs at once.

>2) It hampers discussion. For example in this case your solution has several major and minor drawbacks that need to be mentioned. That could be done on your weblog, but I'd prefer to place my comments here for reasons that are obvious to me.

I think you need to now add your comments here.

For instance, the particular key combination Cesar posted didn't work for me until I replaced two down arrows with two right arrows. Also it may be mentioned, that this code works only in a program (I wasted some time because I was trying it from the command window - my own mistake, though).

>3) Providing a link to another forum is, as I see it, a legitimate means of helping someone in case that same question has been answered there beforehand. However, that was not the case here.

>What's your opinion about my three thoughts?

Some questions/ideas discussed here initiate a new blog entry or a new entry on a web-site. This is a good way to share knowledge.

Just my .2 worth :)
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
