Now I don't think that should be retroactive - if yer a citizen now then so be it - you stay one. Obviously it's not practical to round up 12 million people and lock them up somewhere

You think so? If U.S. citizens with no job and no home (Canada too, for that matter) can manage to live on the streets and somehow survive, why would Mexicans be unable to do the same? Ultimately, I think you would still have to round them up and ship them home.
