>>>And of course, here in the U.S., there is no guarantee of any paid vacation. Paid vacations are offered as an incentive to lure the most qualified candidates to a corporation. They are not a guarantee. The average is 1 week the first year of employment, 2 weeks after that, and then it increases a day or so each year. Some companies offer more, some less. The service industry typically sees no paid vacation though, citizen or illegal immigrant, it doesn't make a difference.

>>That's terrible... How can you rest? In Turkey a government officer begins one month vacation. He/she can take vacation even first day of work. Other workers begins 15 days vacation after one year. That increases periodically...

>We know that is the norm in much of the civilized world. We don't get as much. Tracy put it a little too strongly IMO -- vacation in the U.S. is not just a privilege extended to the top few workers -- but a couple of weeks a year is more the norm here. No taking the month of July off with pay, unfortunately.

I thougt only Japans work so much... There's a Toyota factory in my borncity 'Adapazari'. They beginned work only three days after 99's big eartquake at Adapazari. :S
