Exactly. Even the blue and a few other colors were actually very unsaturated and grayish. Dang, even TV sets come in about two shades of metallic gray. I was surprised when I saw that someone dared try to make a cherry-red microwave (the others were b/w).
But as of a couple of months ago I started seeing new cars in very nice colors - some very nice greens, blues, copper/honey and others. < sigh of relief >.
