Not sure what that phrase actually means, but I think it means, "are you being a cheapskate".

Let's say I fly down just for a couple of days and one night.

Airfare - 250
Hotel - 60
Food - 50
Rental car - 60

We're looking at over $400. Could I do that? Yes, but I'd rather use that for travel when I go to Germany.
