>7 mins walk! How could you even consider moving?????

Well this job sucks and, well jobs are scarce in our little painted-in corner of IT, in this part of the world. I'm not that much of a beach person anymore. Get fidgety, esp with bloody flies and beach bugs alighting all the time. When I say "beach" I really mean my affinity to the sea. I drive along the coast to work each day and have done so in most of my jobs down here for years. I've been here so long now - maybe time for a change of pasture.

>I would never... :o) The only thing I enjoy almost as much as the ocean is the mountains.

10 mins' drive and we're in our version of the mountains, the gentle rolling chalk downs.

>Yet, if I had to chose, then I would chose the beach. Here, we are fortunate that we can have both on weekend excursions. There are not many states that offer that other than North Carolina, California, Oregon, Washington, Virginia...

>>>100 miles is only 1.5 hours on country roads Terry! That is a very short weekend trip.

>>Oh, same for us. But I'm used to a 7 mins' WALK to the beach. :-)
>>
>>>I drove 2.5 hours x 2 (down and back) twice a weekend for the past year to get from Greensboro to Hope Mills and back Friday night and Sunday while I was living up there. Welcome to the reality of America. It is HUGE and the distances anywhere are much much more than in Europe. Driving to another state here is like driving from one country to another in EU (and sometimes farther).

>>And here was I thinking that the atlasses and globes were exagerating and that Texas was really the size of East Sussex, England!
>>
>>I drove from Ontario to PEI a few years ago and that took 3 days!
