I'm not really sure what the exact requirements are for a body of land to be considered a continent, but I imagine it probably revolves around something like being a large land mass surrounded mostly by water. I think Australia is considered about the lower end of the size that allows it to be included in the list.

That's alright, I had a discussion about the number of continents with my American friends last week. I guess for Latin America and some parts of Europe the number is five like the number of rings in the olympic flag <g>
