>While perusing the Developer's Guide, I discovered that VFP ships with a PRG called SCCTEXT which is intended to be used for generating text representations of application components (reports, forms, etc.) for use by version control systems (which can only deal with text files). I've found that it's useful to generate text files from forms and reports -- it's a good way to review all embedded code without clicking and scrolling all over the place, and also for comparing two different versions of the same report, form, whatever. It's simple to use; for example, DO SCCTEXT WITH "MYREPORT.FRX" will generate a text file called MYREPORT.FRA. Though it's not code that you can compile and execute, it can come in handy.
Wow Chris,
Missed the info with a week. I knew it existed and used before but never thought it to make usefull like this. I wrote a collector class last week to use in the same manner for scx. Anyway my class is not really intended for code collection, still no time loss (except PEM collection part). Thanks for the usefull info.
