>I think in this case they set out to prove just how bad govt is at doing these things. I don't think Iraq is a typical case. There was no effort whatsoever to place proper controls in place for handling the doling of funds. As well as putting people in place who no experience in anything to do with rebuilding. Although they did have experience as a Republican party member.

You certainly won't see me defending the Bush administration's handling of post-fall-of-Baghdad Iraq. Disgracefull. I don't know if they intended to prove big government was corrupt and bungling but I don't thing they could have done a better job of it if that had been their intention.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin
