This gets to the root of something I have a little trouble with the "attacking the messenger" attitude that's become prevelent over the last 10 yrs or so.

Michael Moore's "Farenheit 9/11" may have played fast and loose with some facts, but one point he brought up that stuck in my mind is all the personal business failings bush jr. has had, where someone had to come bail him out. I've not heard anyone dispute this.

And he appears to be running govt in the same fashion. He cleary favors "trust" over any sort of competence. And this has had an effect on numerous branches of govt.

>>I think in this case they set out to prove just how bad govt is at doing these things. I don't think Iraq is a typical case. There was no effort whatsoever to place proper controls in place for handling the doling of funds. As well as putting people in place who no experience in anything to do with rebuilding. Although they did have experience as a Republican party member.

>>Regan made the statement about how bad big govt is. And this admin has set out to prove that point at every step of the way.
>>
>>>>>The waste and fraud that has been seen in the reconstruction effort is a pretty good example of big government being inefficient in delivering a lot of services.

>>>>Nope, it's the private businesses to which the government work was outsourced.
>>>
>>>But that's the point - big government decides how to dole out public money and does it badly. ( Iraq reconstruction being another good example )

>You certainly won't see me defending the Bush administration's handling of post-fall-of-Baghdad Iraq. Disgracefull. I don't know if they intended to prove big government was corrupt and bungling but I don't thing they could have done a better job of it if that had been their intention.

(On an infant's shirt): Already smarter than Bush
