French fries were actually a Belgian invention. I was guessing it was the Brits, but no. It would be in character to take an idea from the French and not give them the satisfaction.

>I've had frog legs (cuisses de grenouilles) and they're pretty darn good!! And the French cook their fries (frites) differently than we do ... they're double-cooked or something ... and they taste different than ours.

>Nope, we left before that event (it looks like it was scheduled for the Friday after we left). There *was* a big rugby ball hanging *on* the Eiffel Tower though ... kinda spoiled any pictures I wanted to take (no problem, I've taken pictures of it on previous visits).

>Depends on the airline. We didn't take the direct flight from Paris to Seattle, we had a stop in Detroit. So, the trip gets broken up into an 8 hour flight, Paris to Detroit, and then a 4-1/2 flight, Detroit to Seattle. I have mixed feelings about taking the direct flight ... if we got business/first class where you could actually do some sleeping while flying (reclining seats with foot rests, just like a La-Z-Boy), then direct isn't so bad. <g>

>>I'm not into football or rugby or whatever the big thing was that was going on while we were there, so I didn't pay it any attention at all. We *did* notice lots of people wearing some kind of Ireland team shirts.
