With other SQL versions, a script of the database and backup of the data have been sufficient. However, the client's IT staff say that procedure doesn't work with SQL 2005. What is the proper way to do this task? I don't even see an option to create a new database in SQL 2005 directly from the EM console.

A quick way I used once was to :-
1) Detach the Database on dev machine
2) Take a copy of the Database and log file to client machine (Rar/compress the files for carrying)
3) Attach the databases on both machines

I did it with same version on both machines, but it may work with diff versions as when attaching sql server may detect and handle it.
