And this client does have a fairly recent installation of SBS 2003. The previous IT consultant who WAS very knowledgeable installed it. I tried looking up "SharePoint" and found a bit of marketing hype about how it enables sharing of data and reports through the Office Suite. The info I found didn't really say what, exactly, it does or how it does it. If it uses MSDE 2000, it clearly is NOT the proper repository for the application's data.

I think we are getting close to a solution here (finally!) I suspect the new IT consultants may never have worked with SQL 2005 either. But I do have a couple of advantages: I am painfully aware when I lack knowledge on a topic and I have access to UT where great people willingly share their expertise to keep me out of trouble!

Now what I have to figure out is how to get to MSSQL.1 so I can attempt to restore the data there. I don't seem to be able to access that with the rights I have currently have to SSMS.
