Who cares? Luckily the west is still dependant on Middle-East oil, otherwise the area would be almost completely back (notable exceptions Israel and Turkey) to the early middle-ages feudal lifestyle they enjoyed through the mid-late 20th century.

From my point of view, I hope the US gets over oil dependency as soon as possible so we can get out of there and let the different Islamic factions finish each other off. I know I've cut my oil consumption by more than half over the last five years - I'm really tired of feeding terrorists.
