I wonder if this is any more relevant because of the Turkey thing.

Where the US Congress condemned Turkey for something that happened a hundred years ago.


The Congress took a lot of heat for that.

I wonder if there is a better way out. Something like:

1. Denounce the French for invading Egypt and Iran under Napoleon.

(The first invasion of the Muslim world only really happened 200 years ago. The reason we're fighting in Iraq right now is because Napoleon started messing with them big time.)

2. Denounce previous US Administrations for supporting Saddam and the Taliban and how we've treated Native Americans.


It seems to me this would turn our mistake (denouncing Turkey) into a vehicle of opportunity for denouncing ourselves letting us appear humble, and set a tradition of self-criticism in the world community.

Plus we could blame the Iraq war on the French...
