Good to see you back on the NFL beat.

I caught part of the game last night and also enjoyed the outcome, since I am a Packers fan. (In addition to a Bears fan; the Packers are #2).

Couldn't help thinking of our buddy John when all-world defensive back Champ Bailey got toasted for that 79 yarder in the first half <g>.

Jay Cutler went to Vanderbilt so maybe he is smarter than he sounds.

KC is exceeding expectations but don't you think San Diego is going to run off with that division. They seem to have shaken off their early season troubles. Maybe they were overconfident, who knows.

Sports Illustrated runs a player survey every week. The most recent one, taken at the start of the season, asked NFL players which QB is most easily rattled. Rex Grossman was #1 and Eli Manning #2. No surprises there.

When the Bears made the QB switch earlier this season I tried to tell the dump-Rex crowd around here (a very large crowd) that Brian Griese was no panacea. He is a journeyman quarterback and always has been. My sports predictions aren't always right, or even nearly always, but I was on the money this time. Griese has been as bad or not worse than Rex was. Of course, the real problem is probably elsewhere. They let their offensive line get old and at this point they stink. The QBs don't have time to throw and there is no hope of a running game. Curtis Benson is the new whipping boy but I think LT himself would have trouble gaining yards behind this line. I bet he turns out to be one of those guys who benefits from a change of scenery. And there goes another highly drafted Bears running back down the tubes....

Would you expect Brett Favre to be married to someone who isn't hot?

The Lions have an awesome passing game. Roy Williams was already one of the best wideouts in the league and Calvin Johnson seems to be everything the scouts thought he was.

That's about all the opinions I have. Have been busy with soccer and/or the girls on Sundays and have missed most of the action so far. I don't know whether I will be able to get into it at this point in the season or not, especially with the Bears more or less defunct.
