I think it's a combination factor. A) The player getting below $200. B) Paramount going HD only. Which means Transformers and Shrek3 on HD only.
From what I've heard, Transformers HD sold 4 times more copies then the highest selling Blu-Ray disc (300) to date.
>The same stories about low priced HD-DVD players at Walmart and KMart dropping Blu-Ray also say that HD-DVD will win the war based on priced. It's interesting that Blu-Ray is backed by Sony....Betamax vs. VHS once more, with Sony losing again.

>Personally, I'm just fine with standard DVD and will wait for the Hi-Def wars to shake out some more before I plunge in.

>>I've been avoiding the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray wars.
>>
>>But the wars have just heated up a bit with the Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player being sited at $99 at Walmart. The problem is that this news has gotten far and wide. So you have to be at Walmart in the morning, when the truck arrives to make this purchase.
>>
>>Circuitcity.com has it at $129. So it's a little easier.
>>
>>Has anyone gone ahead with this here?
