I don't think you will need a new receiver but it may help you decide between A2 vs A3.

"The difference between the A2 and A3 is the A2 optical out supports DTS and the A3 supports DD 5.1. The A2 can do 1.5 mps DTS over optical cable, and the A3 can do 640kps DD 5.1 over optical cable."
