>>>>I think one thing worth pointing out is that English is not Naomi's first language. Her on-line English has *VASTLY* improved since her earliest posts here, so much so that those encountering her only occasionally may think she's a native speaker. Interpreting nuances in forum messages isn't easy at the best of time; I think Naomi deserves a little more latitude than we may give others.

>>No. Currently, her on-line English is (IMO) better than that of quite a few native speakers on this forum.

>I don't get it. The way I read your paragraph is that you suggest that people may only in some instances (occasionally) think that she's a native speaker, inclining that they think in most cases that she's not a native speaker.
To re-phrase what I meant:
- Naomi's on-line English is very good
- Suppose someone does not know Naomi very well, if at all. If that person then saw some recent posts of hers , s/he could easily get the mistaken impression that Naomi is a native speaker (or at least, expert)
- The same could be true if that person occasionally (intermittently) monitored her posts over, say, the last 6 months to a year (at a guess)
IOW someone would have to be regularly monitoring her posts, or over quite a long time period to "remember" that she's not a native speaker.
