As countries get more sophisticated in terms of industry, electronics etc the effort to create a nuclear weapon gets more achievable. Keeping the rest of the world at a primitive level where thats not achievable isn't an option. So we may as well work out what the world is going to be like with a whole lot more countries having nuclear weapons becuase thats the future.

I'm sure someone like Kissinger would have that one worked out already instead of the current la la land that is US (and UK) foreign policy.
