Thanks guys, great information to start. We are using Excel right now, so I believe SQL is a kind of huge for us. I have been using VFP for 14 years and it is pretty nice that Microsoft will support it until 20014. It seems the latest update was november 14 (two days ago). I need to have more facts and then I can be back to VFP again.

A few more words.

As Craig said, with SQL Server, you'll still need a development language/environment, such as VFP, or .NET, etc.

Generally, I recommend against using VFP as a back-end database, and recommend either SQL or SQL Express...unless there are compelling reasons otherwise.

FWIW, I find the 2014 support issue to be hardly relevant. With each passing year the # of people actively working in VFP is decreasing.
